This Website Will Be Moving Soon

I'm already working on the new one but I don't have an estimate of when it will be "ready enough" to share the link. If you want to contact me please send an IM in Kitely to Koshari Mahana. Thanks!

I just saw this ad on Facebook and they are so wonderful I just had to share the link!

I am fond of Second Life because it's where I learned everything I know about virtual worlds. I would like to say that I am loyal but the bottom line has got to be dollars and cents with me. I still have 4 sims in Second Life though, 2 full and 2 homesteads. At one time I had 8 sims but gave them back because I just didn't want to spend the extra money anymore. I don't have any sims in InWorldz currently, but I rent 1/4 of a sim which is more than enough land for me due to the amazing prim count offered.

I'm in a different position than some people though, I need land only to display and sell on. If I were needing land for recreation though I would definitely choose to buy in InWorldz rather than in Second Life. Virtual land in Second Life is not the greatest investment anymore, especially if you only want a sim or two. It's become increasingly harder to resell in Second Life, as I found out first hand. I just ended up giving mine back to Lindens to save from having to pay another months tier.

To buy a full region in Second Life there is a $1000.00 set up fee (15,000 prims)
To buy a full region in InWorldz there is a $75.00 set up fee (45,000 prims)

Second Life tier is $295.00 a month
InWorldz tier is $75.00 a month (I'm pretty sure this hasn't changed)

Now that InWorldz has introduced Phlox many things that were a tad bit glitchy before - operate perfectly now. I like Second Life and I would never bad mouth it at all, but right now it seems like it's just a simple matter of economics. Many people prefer Second Life because they say there is more to do. That's true, I won't argue with that. But... there will be more to do in InWorldz as people continute to come and establish themselves here. There is no right or wrong 'world' to be in... but it seems that in this bad 'real world' economy... people would gravitate towards the virtual world with the better prices. I like InWorldz just as much as I've ever liked Second Life, but admittedly I'm not the most social person, most of my time online is working. I would love to hear from other people though. Which world do you prefer and does the price matter to you?

We know that Intellectual property can be confusing. So, we have prepared this tutorial to help you learn about Linden Lab's policies regarding certain intellectual property like copyrights, trademarks, and celebrity rights.

Following the policies highlighted in this tutorial may help you keep your newly uploaded mesh content from being removed from Second Life or the Second Life Marketplace and may prevent you from violating others' intellectual property rights.

Before you proceed please be aware that this is not a comprehensive list of Linden Lab's policies and following these policies does not guarantee your compliance with others' intellectual property rights. If you need advice on intellectual property rights, we suggest you contact an attorney.

Let's get started!

Mesh Update

Linden Lab is excited to announce the latest updates on one of our coolest new features — mesh. With mesh, you’ll be able to create, build and beautify even more incredible objects inworld! You’ll find a new Mesh Enablement functionality tab in the My Account section of your Account screen. It’s just another part of the innovation and imagination that makes Second Life the magical place it is.

Uploading Mesh

Now that mesh is in rollout stage and many users will soon be able to utilize its content-creation capabilities, there are a few things creators should know before giving it a whirl. Potential creators will need to satisfy a couple of requirements in order to gain access to mesh-upload capabilities. First, you’ll need to review a short tutorial that is intended to help Residents understand some of Linden Lab’s intellectual property policies — they can be kind of tricky, and we at the Lab want all content creators to be well-informed This tutorial outlines some of the key points relating to intellectual property.

Second, if you have never given us billing information, you'll need to enter it into your account. Why, you ask? Because having payment information on file is an important step in establishing direct relationships with content creators who will be working in mesh. Note: We do realize that with the current configuration, some Residents will need to make a purchase in order to enter their billing information.

The first round of rollouts of mesh will be happening over the next few weeks! We look forward to seeing your continued imagination, skill and creativity in this exciting new format. We hope you’ll be pleased with our innovations — and can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Now go create something amazing!

To make it easier for InWorldz residents I've been busy listing my builds on Cariama. I have two stores there so far. I'll list them here with the links.

It's been many months since I've left my big sims and started renting a quarter sim at Catalina Island in InWorldz. For various reasons I'm still not quite finished setting up ... although most of the work is now completed. I will need to add a few more homes to the rezzing vendors and several scripts had to be reworked after the last big upgrade. Slowly but surely though things are coming along.

Here are the current IZUrl's

Just this evening I finished putting out all of the vintage shoppes on a platform, for some reason I thought for the time being that would be easier than putting them in the rezzing vendors, I had to fix the teleports anyway since the upgrade they all needed adjusting 3 meters.

Here are a couple of new photographs from the prefab store platform:

I am trying to place a facebook ad, I had one, I thought it was pretty, facebook didn't accept it for some reason. I will pay 3000$L to the person who sends me the best photo of a Four Winds Building that has at least one avatar in it. Please see the rules that are attached. Thanks! Good Luck to all of you!

Here was the picture facebook decided I couldn't use... I don't know why though, they don't say. Maybe they don't like naked pixels or they didn't realize that the building in the photo is the product? Anyway...

Here are the rules for the photo contest:

After the big upgrade in InWorldz I've noticed that the teleports (that used to work flawlessly) in my homes and stores ... now teleport avatars higher, often sending them to the roof.

If you own one of my homes or stores in InWorldz I have the solution, it's quite simple but requires going into the script of the destination prim. I will work very hard at reboxing things and replacing... but for the time being I'm going to give you the simple instructions in case you want to fix this problem yourself. You are also free to email me and set up a time for me to come and fix your home or building teleports for you (if you don't feel safe doing it yourself).

Here are the instructions (Click to Enlarge)

The other day I turned on the news and I heard a story about a young man, Constantino Diaz-Duran, who is soon to be a U.S. citizen. He is walking across our country from east to west, NY to LA. The purpose of his journey, as I understand it, is to ask Americans what it means to be an American. When his journey ends, he too will be an American.
Constantino sets out on his walk across the United States
In his own words:
I came to this country a decade ago from Guatemala, full of aspirations – none greater than being able to someday call myself an American. It has been a blessing to reside legally in this great country, but now I am eligible for citizenship. I will no longer be a visitor, but will take a solemn oath to “support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” I will promise to “absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity” to the place where I was born. And I will even swear “that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law.” READ MORE
This is really one of those 'feel good' stories and I so look forward to following his travels. I will put putting a twitter widget on the sidebar here if you want to check in from time to time to see how he's doing. I'll also post any and all photos of Victorian houses that are as lovely as this!

There are several ways that you can follow Constantino:

Here is the map of his journey:

And a little bit more from Constantino:

I want to see the spacious skies, the amber waves of grain and the purple mountain majesties. But even more importantly, I want to meet Americans of as many different backgrounds, ages and lifestyles as I can. I want to ask them what it means to them to call themselves “American.” I want to talk to the people who live here but haven’t attained citizenship, to learn about their aspirations and why this nation remains a beacon upon a hill to so many around the world.

I sure wish I knew what this said. LOL...

I haven't done a lot of exploring yet in other virtual worlds other than Second Life and InWorldz. I just went to the website Cariama.Com because one can offer their items for sale there and they can them be used in some of the different worlds. I appears that their service will work for:

3rdRockGrid, Avination, InWorldz, Second Life,  SimWorld and UFS Grid.

I've been in, and created an avatar for Avination, and of course InWorldz and Second Life, but I haven't been in any of the others. I've never even heard of SimWorld or UFS Grid until today. I am wondering if I can get some feedback on some of the others. I assume all of these listed have economies if one can sell items on Cariama for them... however, I would also like to know a few other things.

1) Activity, are there many actual users that would make it worthwhile to offer homes, shops and furniture in that world?

2) What themes seem most popular there?

3) Do you think the grid has a good future or would it be a waste of time to upload everything there?

In addition, has anyone tried Cariama, how well does it work? Does it have good potential as an online store? Are there any others that are similar or better for this?

Thanks for your input, it's great to hear what other things before plunging into the unknown!
